NECATI
CELIK (OUD) was born in 1955 in the province
of Konya, home of the Mevlevi Sufi order. He learned to play the baglama,
a folkloric long-necked lute at the age of 7. The early 1970's marked
the beginning of his acquaintance with the oud, and in 1973, he participated
in the Mevlevi rituals of Konya as an oud player for the first time ever.
Here, he met some of Turkey`s foremost oud masters, who contributed to
the development of his command over the instrument. Having experienced
difficulty in obtaining quality instruction while growing up, Mr. Celik
decided to establish his own private school of music in l975 in Konya,
where he taught oud to hundreds of students. In 1983, he founded the Konya
Municipal Türkish Music Choir. Two years later, he became an oud
instructor in the Music Department of Konya's Seljuk University, where
he remained for a year. In 1986, he became an oud artist in the Turkish
Ministry of Culture's State Classical Music Ensemble; and at the same
time, taught oud at the State Conservatory of Aegean University. In 1987,
he gave 8 concerts in Tunisia. In 1989 Mr.Celik joined the Istanbul State
Classical Turkish Music Ensemble. He also became the primary oud artist
of the Necdet-Yashar ensemble, with whom he performed an a monthly basis
in Istanbul, as well as in many provinces of Turkey. Mr. Celik is a frequent
guest on Turkish national television and radio programs, and he has performed
in many of the universities of France, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland,
Tunisia, Morocco, Malaysia, Canada and the U.S.A. |

HALIL
KARADUMAN (KANUN) learned to play Kanun from
his father, a well known musician, when he was 4 years old. He went on to
study at the prestigious University of Istanbul Conservatory where he finished
first in his class. He has recorded and performed with some of the most
popular and well known singers in Turkey such as Zeki Müren, Bülent
Ersoy, Müzeyyen Senar, Ibrahim Tatlises, Sezen Aksu, Zülfü
Livaneli and more. He has also had the pleasure of performing and teaching
in many countries throughout the world such as America, Greece, Urdun, Tunis,
Lebanon and Syria. In addition to being a much sought after musician and
teacher, Halil is also an accomplished composer having written the popular
Turkish songs Devlerin As Ki, Rüyalarda Bulus¸Uruz, Kutupta Yaz
Gibi, and Leyla. |

ADIL
CELEBI (ZURNA, MEY, and NEY) was born in Samsun Turkey. When he was
fourteen Adil started playing clarinet and zurna and soon became in demand
as a popular musician for weddings and festivals. In 1978 he was accepted
into the prestigious Ankara Gazi University of Music and after graduating
taught at many schools in Turkey. At the same time Adil remained a popular
musician for folkdance groups throughout Turkey. In addition to teaching
he has performed with many famous singers and musicians and toured worldwide.
Since 1982 Adil has been working with Turkey's Ministry of Culture promoting and playing folk music in Istanbul. |

HUSNU
TUZSUZ (Violin) AND HIS ROMAN ORKESTRA Husnu is a Roman from Istanbul
who grew up in a family of musicians.He learned his style from his father
and older brother who are both well respected professional musicians. In
addition he pursued his musical education by intense study with master violinist
Hasan Nar. Husnu and his band are well known in Istanbul and are much sought
after for musical engagements. | |||||
AHIRKAPI
ROMAN ORKESTRA This lively and talented band is a favorite at the
annual Romani Hidrellez festival in spring and frequently appears at the
world renowned Armada Hotel. |

TAYYAR
AKDENIZ (DAVUL) has been involved as a dancer, musician and director
of folkloric troupes for 25 years in Turkey. He has performed and traveled
extensively around the world with the Turkish State Folk Dance Assemble
and several other distinguished dance companies from Turkey. He is a highly
respected, seasoned performer who has delighted audiences throughout Europe,
Asia, the Far East, Mexico and in the United States. Tayyar is the director
of Folk Tours and is working tirelessly to keep a sense of Turkish art and
culture alive through his events in the United States and Turkey which feature
some of the finest ethnic dancers and musicians in the world.
